Reflections on Poetry
Poetry demands of the writer to hold the high point!
To remain in the light and yet to descend into the Abyss.
If Truth be revealed in its many colours,
if a moment of understanding compels one further,
if the rhythm and strength of image moves your inner being,
then this is poetry.
And great poetry is that synthesis between the writer and their audience, where greater things are made in thought, love, and action!
Steven McKeating
Is a third-generation carpenter, used to working with the simple beauty of wood and the practical nature of construction.
Steven is a long time student in the field of esoteric philosophy, and his poems are inspired by the great forces of light: The White Brotherhood.
He gives his poetry no titles, encouraging the reader towards their own interpretation.
His aim: to inspire the journey of spiritual discovery.
I am sustained
beyond that of body.
That counts the effort
into allotments,
and says no more.
This realization runs
parallel to that I draw from.
The splendidness
of the current that sleeps
in wake
and fills the whole
and then does not leave.
I stand as
I have stood before.
Love has sent me
out yonder.
I had a letter
close to my heart,
penned in the fragrance
of a devoted servant,
open and true.
It gave more than it held,
and laughter and joy
danced through its lines.
It is a letter yet sent.
One may find it
but not know its sender.
As if left in sight .
Temperance is
this single tree rooted
in the rocks of far-flung lava.
How a seed finds barrenness
and defies nature itself!
My heart
is the old man's laughter,
remembered in lives before.
Finding way of cheer
for the journey ahead.
More about the Author
Steven McKeating has lived most of his life in the beautiful landscapes of New Zealand. From a young age, he was curious about the world and how he and everyone fitted within this puzzle.
He grew up as one of three siblings, with a mother who always taught "it's not the end of the world" when life was challenging, and a father who fostered a love of carpentry and the great outdoors.
By his 20th year Steven lay claim to briefly meeting an enlightened being and what transpired was a new outlook of life and a heart full of promise.
Later he learned a number of healing modalities and completed a two-year diploma in the esoteric sciences.
Poetry has enabled him to share his love for humanity.
